About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and technically capable Process Control Engineer to join our Kwinana team on a permanent basis (38-hour week, 9-day fortnight).

As part of the Process Control Team, you will play a key role in maintaining, improving, and supporting the plant's automation and control systems across all operational areas. Working closely with Operations and Maintenance teams, you will ensure the reliability and performance of critical control infrastructure, including DeltaV DCS, Allen-Bradley PLCs, Honeywell systems, SCADA, networks, and associated infrastructure.  You will also work on identifying and implementing process improvements that enhance safety, productivity, product quality, and cost performance.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who enjoys a combination of field work, troubleshooting, programming, commissioning, and continuous improvement. You will be involved in implementing control strategies, delivering automation improvements, supporting capital projects, and helping drive operational excellence across the site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the operability, availability, and reliability of plant process control systems and applications.
  • Lead the Plant Alarm Rationalisation Program by analysing alarm performance and reducing nuisance alarms.
  • Support the implementation of process control infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and system enhancements.
  • Develop, modify, and commission control strategies and automation sequences.
  • Work with Production teams to implement improved process control models and operating strategies.
  • Ensure Management of Change (MOC) requirements are followed for all control system modifications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex automation, hardware, software, and control system issues.
  • Translate operational and technical requirements into practical process control solutions.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve process control documentation and standards.
  • Provide technical support for capital projects, plant modifications, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Support and maintain industrial networks, SCADA systems, PLCs, Servers, Databases and associated control infrastructure

 

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A degree in Engineering with a preference for Control Systems, Electrical, Automation or a related discipline.
  • Experience in industrial automation, control system programming, and troubleshooting.
  • Exposure to DeltaV DCS, Honeywell DCS, and/or Allen-Bradley PLCs (highly regarded).
  • A sound understanding of electrical systems, industrial communications, and control system architecture.
  • Experience with SCADA systems, data historians, databases, and process control networks.
  • Exposure to PI Vision, Power BI, SEEQ, or similar data and visualisation tools
  • Knowledge of process safety principles, incident investigations, and Management of Change processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside Operations and Maintenance teams.
  • A proactive, accountable, and solutions-focused approach.
