About the Role

 

The role oversees the day‑to‑day leadership of mechanical maintenance technicians and contractors, ensuring a safe, healthy and fully compliant working environment across all activities. You will allocate work, set direction and uphold engineering standards, driving adherence to maintenance, quality and industry best practice. A key part of the role is monitoring and improving maintenance KPIs, including schedule compliance and change‑management performance. You will also participate in, audit and enhance OE&R meetings, contributing to continuous improvement and operational effectiveness.

 

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Provide front line leadership demonstrating Tronox values and behaviours
  • Supervise employees to execute mechanical maintenance to a high work quality standard in accordance with the daily work schedule 
  • Prioritise equipment to ensure repairable spare items are available as needed
  • Manage cost allocation for your area of responsibility.
  • Ensure that effects of emergent work are prioritized against schedule completion and breakdowns support is provided as needed
  • Collaborate with other Supervisors, Leaders and Coordinators to ensure overarching priorities are achieved
  • Ensure routine & other work management processes are completed and correctly documented
  • Ensure adherence with all regulatory requirements and champions effective safety/risk practices
  • Champion team idea generation and OE activities
  • Manages all related personnel actions (e.g. selection, training, succession planning, overtime, performance reviews, grievance procedures)

 

About You

 

The ideal candidate is an engaging, collaborative professional with the following experience, knowledge and qualifications:

 

  • Experience in the supervision of maintenance activities and knowledge of Engineering & Maintenance Processes.
  • Working knowledge of current legislation and statutory requirements.
  • Knowledge of maintenance best practice.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Problem solving.
  • Computer literacy (i.e. MS Office/SAP etc.)
  • Ability to communicate, both written and verbal, to team members and higher management.
  • Qualified with Higher National Certificate or Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or relevant proven experience.
